Hello,
I got a question, does anyone know the chances on getting pregnant with twins the 2nd time around, but without fertility drugs??
I orginally got fertility treatment and got pregnant with twins, but I was wondering if anyone knows what my chances are of having twins without any medical help?? I also wonder what my chances are getting pregnant even with one??
I know it is hard to say, but just wondering if there is any other moms out there that this happened to...maybe my 1st pregnancy reset my body to ovulate on its own.
Please let me know...

I don't have an answer for you. I also got pg with multiples by fertility drugs and IUI. In my situation, my dr believes there is a chance that I might get pg on my own. We never knew the reason why I could not get pg in the first place. Good luck.

I got pg recently on my own and it was a singleton (and 3 1/2 yrs after the twins too!). Unfortunately we lost it at 14 weeks, but I did fertility with the twins as well w/o problems. I don't think there is a set number on the chances of having multiples again. Especially w/o fertility help. I think it just varies for different women.

according to what i have read. your chances of having twins goes up with your age and also the amount of pregnancies. Also your ethnic origin as if you are asian, african or mediteranian you have a higher chance again this is according to what i have read. I think i am at high risk of more twins according to this info as I had twins in my first pregnncy when i was 22 I am now 24 also have asian blood a few generations back.
But throwing all that out the window my Dr says that everyones chance of having twins is 1 in 70 pregnancies without fertility treatment

Hi, we have 2 year-old boy/girl twins through 3rd attempt IVF with ICSI. We were told we shouldn't have to worry about birth control. Well, to make a long story short, my toddlers caught a 24 hour stomache bug which I got as well. However, mine lasted 3 days. On the 3rd day, my husband said I should go make sure I didn't have something more serious. Imagine my surprise when the dr ruled out a pregnancy so he could give me meds and told me I was pregnant. Since I had been spotting for five days, he got me into my OB the next day and we found out we were pregnant with TWINS! again. This time was a spontaneous conception and it is truly a miracle. There is no other way to describe it.
Our good friend is a DO and he said that the odds of conceiving twins twice without fertility assistance either time is 1:64,000.
Best wishes-

Caleigh and Jacob(5 months) are my first set. I also have a son Chase who is 9, but my husband has a set of idntical girls Destiny and Desiree who are 5. I've read that it's the woman's side of the family that determines twins BUT>>I have none in my family and he has his, ours, plus a family history of several sets. So how can that be right? About the chances of a second set... I've heard that if you've got fraternal then your chances are like 80 percent. Because fraternal twins are hereditary and identical aren't. I'm not sure but I think that if you've had ivf then your chances are no more than someone with no history in their family.

Pretty simple. You have fraternal twins so you dropped two eggs at ovulation. That's ALL you and has nada to do with your DH. My DH is also a fraternal twin and we have two sets but i'm the one who ovulated two eggs. All his swimmers had to do was find them. Actually it is the tendency to drop two eggs at ovulation that is genetic so you may have several female relatives who have the same tendency. Not every woman who is a dual ovulator actually has twins. Your chances of having two sets if your first set are fraternal is 1 in 12. : )

I have two sets.....
The first set via fertility meds and IUI, the second set were completely 'spontaneous'. I don't know the odds of it happening that way, but that's what happened to me.

Anyone know the stats on this when Clomid is used? I conceived my twins on Clomid and I think I'd like to have another child someday, but I'm not sure I'd want twins again. What are my chances of a spontaneous pregnancy? And if I do have to take Clomid again, what are my chances of twins again?

Hi,
I got pregnant the first time around on 50mg Clomid with twin boys. I still had irregular periods and unknown ovulation so when trying to get pregnant again we again went on Clomid. My doctor couldn't tell me what my chances were of twins again (I think it's supposed to be 10% on Clomid). I'm now pregnant with twin girls, due in March. After a few days of getting used to the idea, we are thrilled to be blessed with twins again. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

Hi my name is Stacy and I have two sets of twins with the use of no fertility drugs. What I can tell you is that for women in thier 30's it is very common to realease two eggs. However it is not common for two sets to be born back to back.Good luck
