View Full Version : hcg levels?

OMG..Again?

Does anyone have experience with knowing their hcg levels early in pregnancy?

I have 11 month old twins and am currently 6 weeks pg. I have a history of miscarraige so my dr. repeated my blood work early this week. My progesterone looks good, but my hcg levels are "through the roof." My dr. said she expected them to be around 600 and my levels are 1300. She said this could be an indication of a multiple pregnancy. Have any of you had this experience?

We will have an ultrasound next week, but I am just freaking out! My first twin pg was so difficult with pt labor, haspitalizations, and long bedrest. I am terrified that I will have to go through all that again with two babies at home. My guys are identical and just thought the statistical odds of having twins again (no twins in my family) were so high that it was so unlikely. I just thought for sure I would have a singleton so we wanted that baby to be close in age to the twins. I'm rambling...can you tell I'm freaking out. Its so exciting, but knowing how rough it is, makes it so more intimidating.

Sorry for the rambling, just wondering if I'm planning for 1 or 2?

Hello. At 12 wks my hcg was 1425 and I now have 6 mth old twins. My Doc said anything over 800 was a probability of multiple pregnancy. Good luck & God bless! Keep us updated!

My hcg levels went a little insane. At 4w 2d, I was at 390. At 5w 2d, I was at 5360! We basically knew before the ultrasound at 6w that we were having multiples.

Good Luck!

3 pregnancies & 2 sets of twins and I couldn't even tell you a thing about my hcg levels. Don't have a clue what mine were at all : ) Good luck to you!

I had high levels at four weeks (don't remember the number) and my dr told me to come in for an ultra sound at six weeks. The rest, as we say, is history.

Don't freak out! Even if they are twins, you'll cope. You'll manage. Stay strong.

Hi., I remember when I called for my pregnancy test results, the tech. said "Oh my god, it is definitely positive, you levels are very high, over 50 is positive, your over 800."

It is definitely an indication, but the odds are low......good luck, I hope you get whatever you are hoping for.

Check with your doc. about this, but I think a high level might just also mean that you are further along than you thought... maybe you're 8 or 10 weeks or whatever. I guess the ultrasound will tell all!

Yes, the odds of a second set are long, but if that's what it is, that's what it is, right? Hang in there.. even if it's another set, you will manage. We moms always find a way. I'll bet when you found out about the first set you thought how am I going to handle twins. Well you did, right?

I have a 3rd who is a single, and there was a little part of me that wanted twins again.. just so she would have the same relationship and bond that the twins have. She'll always be a little bit of an outsider compared to the other 2, although we try to make her feel equal and included as much as possible, it will never be quite the same, esp. since ours have a 5 year difference.

I have no idea what my HCG levels were either...

My hcg levels at 4 weeks were just over 900. Congradulations on your pregnancy. I wish you all the best.

I had an ultrasound this morning and only saw one bean!!! I am so excited. I would have been happy with twins again, but am looking forward to having a singleton experience.

Thanks for your thoughts!

i did not realize i was pg till i was almost 8 weeks. i had an hcg test done at 9 weeks on the dot and they were at 155,000.

my OB said "you are definitely pg" and never even mentioned a possibility of twins. three days later i had an u/s and found out it was twins. what a shock!

good luck to you! i have identicals too and have heard that your chances are 1 in 77,000 to have them a second time. secretly i hope that i do have them again! CALL ME CRAZY!!!!!!!! but if it is you then i guess statistically speaking, you would be the 1 in my group of 77,000 so i probably won't have them. LOL. :)

let us know!!! you take care!

Our surrogate had her first beta done at 12 days after a 3-day transfer (at which point she would have been considered almost 4 weeks pregnant). Her first hcg level was 248, which our nurse said meant she was "very pregnant."

The next beta was done three days later and the number had risen to 1759, so we were both fairly sure it was twins. Our first ultrasound a few weeks later at 6 weeks and 5 days confirmed fraternal twins...

I have been reading and checking around and it seems my HCG levels are in some websites high and some average. Here Mine are higher than anyones post that i have read thus far. After 1.5 yrs of TTC My HCG at 4w2d was 826and at 5w1d my HCG was 9,110. It seemed extremely high since after both misscarriages my HCG was never over 88. so These sound wonderfull to me. This message board has given me a little bit more hope since my #'s are higher than the ones here. I cant wait till my 7w ultrasound on Friday. Then nurse won't tell me if the #'s are high or not she says "I cant interpret that over the phone." Im just dying to know if they are high or average. I really want it to be twins but I will be happy with a singleton just as I was with my 11 and 13 yr old. Please send out some + twin energy to me. Thanks Janice

how did it go? Are you having twins? That is very high. I don't even think our Triplets moms were ever that high.

I hope you come back and let us know!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me some input as to if it sounds like I'm having twins or not. At my first u/s at 4wks 5days there were two black circles with no babies present yet. They were completly seperate from each other inside my uterus. I compared my u/s to others with twins online and it looked exactly the same. The u/s tech said it was possible, but too early to tell yet. I will have a second u/s at 6wks 5days.

My HCG was 614 at 4wks5d and at 5wks5d it was 9,000. I compared these to hcg levels with twins (the 9,000) at is was a normal HCG for twins. I have 5 days til I can find out for sure( another u/s).

My question is what do you guys think?

Sounds like twins are a possibility. It's always hard to predict the outcome when you are so early on. I wish you luck with whatever you find out.

It is definately possible. I just found out two weeks ago that I am having my second set of twins. I had a set of identical twins just about 15 years ago! So imagine my surprise.

Hello ladies,
thank goodness for this website. I have been stressing myself out in the past few weeks b/c I'm convinced I'm having twins. I have a two year old male singleton and when I was 7 weeks pregnant with him (5 weeks + 2 weeks back to first of last menstrual) my hCG levels were 9,900. This time around I had bloodwork done at 5 weeks (3 + 2) and the levels were 295. I had more bloodwork about 9 days later, at approx. 6+ weeks (4 + 2) and they were 16, 400. I'm halfway through my 9th week now and I've already gained 8 - 10 lbs. I haven't had any major symptoms other than frequent bathroom trips and a short spell of constant nausea.

I don't have an ultrasound scheduled for another 3 weeks. What do you ladies think about my numbers? I'm going to call the Dr's office today b/c the stress is starting to affect me - I'm waking up through the night with chest pains (almost like a pulled muscle). I would welcome twins with very open arms - it's the not knowing that's freaking me out.

It's definitely possible! Call your OB and just see if they would let you in early. Could never hurt!

:xfingers: that you get the results you are hoping for!

Hello. I have a similar question.

If your HCG are through the roof for 6 weeks, mine are ultra high. I am today on May 26--5W1D. My HCGs have been as follows:

11 DPO (3w4D) HCG 44
13 DPO (3w6D) HCG 138
17 DPO (4w3D) HCG 987
20 DPO (4w6D) HCG 4169

Any Thoughts, could it be twins?
I'd really appreciate any feedback....
