I have 6 singletons and am expecting twins the beginning of January. Their ages are 10,8,6,4,3, and 18 months. Since I don't have any other sets of twins I wasn't sure if I would fit in.

I'm sure you could offer some of us advice with all your other kids! There are people here expecting twins who have singletons, or no kids, some with twins alone, twins plus singletons, twins plus twins etc etc.
Everyone fits in so welcome!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. My dh works at night so after 8pm, it's mom's time to herself so that's when I do my computer stuff for the most part. Lately I feel like I'm drowning. My house is far from clean and I get tired so quick. I keep plugging away at it and eventually I'll get it caught up again. One day at a time.

One day at at time really is the only way to do it and you got lots of kids so have them give you a hand with some of the stuff.

Well, I'm doing a bit better this week, although this morning I woke up with a cold. The house is getting there and I'm not feeling quite so overwhelmed. I really have to crack the whip with the older kids though because I just can't do it all myself. They have gotten better about helping and actually not complaining much when I tell them something needs to be done. The biggest motivator has been our little above ground pool, which they would live in if I let them, lol. They did a wonderful job on the toy room in order to go swimming. I don't find things that really motivate them very often but that one really works. My dh has been out of town for the National Guard for a week now and has another week to go. I find it very interesting that I can get the house clean and keep it clean when he is not here, but when he comes home it gets really messed up again not matter what I do. Hmmmmmm Anyone else have that problem? Well, I am off to finish my laundry and try and get floors washed today. CBL.

when my dh is home in the evening the house falls apart and on the weekends so know your not alone i think we might all go through this. thats good that the pool was agood motivater for the kids, if they one room picked up see if you can get then to do another useing the pool:) its one of those find what works and use it!! also this might work to tell them you can cook their favoret (sp) dinner and or dessert but they will have to clean-- and then you will you just need to tell then in a way they dont realize that your winning. Good Luck! have a good day

Lori,
I do so admire you for raising your family and staying sane, at least most of the time. I have finally come to realize that no matter what I am getting done, something else is NOT getting done. I feel overwhelmed less now that all of mine are older, but I do remember those days when I felt I was drowning, and nobody was throwing me a line!
You are so right to use rewards to motivate! Nearly all children can be bribed! They also like and need structure and limits. As they get older, they don't think cleaning up is as much fun, but my little ones would do anything as long as I did it with them and made it like a game.
Good luck with the laundry and floors!

It has been a long time since I posted and a lot has happened. I am growing like a weed! I feel like I am at least 7 months if not 8, and have all the discomforts to go with it. It leaves me wondering how I will be able to get through the next 4 months or so. I try to just take it one day at a time because otherwise it's a little scarey to think about being in the 8th or 9th month. I am trying to prepare for another school year. We are a homeschooling family so I have been busy getting lesson plans put together but still have a long way to go. I'm hoping to get Sept done by the end of the month. Had an U/S this past Friday and found out we are having girls and they are almost exactly the same size. Both weighing 12 oz which I found out on another board that that is what the Drs like to see singletons at by the 20th week. I was surprised at how in depth the U/S was. She measured everything, including my cervix from the inside. It took an hour but I was loving every minute of it. I love seeing my babies. Well, I guess I have rambled enough for one night so I will go for now.

I can remember being miserable very well. I was huge!!! I started wearing maternity clothes at 6 weeks and found out that it was twins at 10 weeks. I had the boys at 33 weeks and at this point was wearing tents:D almost all of my maternity clothing had gotten to small.
I loved watching my US. When I started having major complications at 26 weeks I was having one every week to monitor my cervix. I had funneling and it was only visable by probe US and they would always let me see the boys. I had them tape it for me... the tape is half full.
As far as home schooling, Hats of to you... I love my kids but the break that I get while they are at school allows me more time with the boys. I hope you get everything ready and things go smooth for you.

Hi momof8..... Im a mom of 5. I have 3 boys (8, 7 & 5), and twin girls who are 14 wks. Congradulations on finding out your having twins. I hope U R as happy as my husband & I were when we found out we were having twins. About 3yrs ago I had a misscarrage and last yr when we found out we were having twins we were shocked, but very excited, especially since there are no know twins in our family on either side. My husband and I just looked at it like God was giving us back the child we lost 3 yrs prior. My 3 boys were very excited and even more so when they found out the twins were both girls. Its kind of funny if ya think about it my husband and I have a full boat! lol I am a firm believer in that God works in myterious ways and never gives you more than you can handle. Although sometimes my husband and I think he may have confused us with someone else. lol Im sure you know the feeling. Anyway good luck with everything!!!

Trish - how funny and yes I'd have to say I wonder the same thing too at times. We are very happy and excited. I have 4 boys and 2 girls so this evens everyone out. Our twins are also the only ones on either side. I had a m/c back in January at 11 weeks and was devastated by it. Finding out we were having twins brought such incredible joy. I have no doubt in my mind that God had His hand in us having twins, which makes it even more awesome. He loves us all so much. I look forward to getting to know you better.

Hi Lori,
Well, so sorry I'm so late in saying howdy. I usually only go to the what's bugging you forum, not that I don't like others it's called lack of time, which I'm sure you can understand.
What a great source of info you bring how wonderful.
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEXT VENTURE IN LIFE! I think you can have 100 kids and still it's nothing like having twins. I hope we can be here for ya.
