Okay, so I only have one set of twins (for now anyway, I'm scared to try again for fear that it will be multiples again, and we're not ready for more that 3!) I thought I'd share my family history though, and how many incredibly remarkable women there are in my family.
Okay, on my mother's side.
My grandmother had twin brothers.
My grandmother had 6 children total, they youngest two (my mom (recently deceased) and her brother) were twins. She also had 2 miscarried twin pregnancies.
My aunt (my mother's sister) has identical twin girls.
Then there's my twins.
Pretty much every generation!
My bio-father's side.
My great grandmother had 2 sets of twins and a set of trips along with 3 or 4 singletons.
One of my aunts has fraternal boys and had a twin pregnancy immediately after them that resulted in a miscarraige.
Two of my other aunts have a set of twins.
One other aunt had a twin pregnancy, however one died shortly after conception, so it resulted in a singleton birth.
I think that's about it, unless there's someone I'm forgetting. I know that twins run if families, but everyone asks, "so are there a lot of twins in your family", and I'm like, "you have NO idea!", lol...
Just wondering if anyone else has a family like mine. Also, if so, are you concerned about having more multiples? Also, just a hint, the chance of having multiples is like doubled with each set you have, so if you already have some, watch out!
On another note, I met this woman at the pediatricians the other day, I had Teryn there, but Dakota was at home. She was calling her little boy Dakota, so I was like "oh, she has a twin at home named Dakota". The lady says, "oh, he has a twin brother at home named Dristan", so we started talking. I learned that she also had 18 year old twins, (she must have been in her early 40's or so). She told me that after her first set she had her tubes burned and clamped! She said the doctor's said the odds of this happening are so remote they would have never thought it possible. 20 years later having another set of twins when you thought that you could never have anymore children period! What a shocker that must have been!
