Hello, I am Jamie. I am recently single and have three sets, and two single boys. It's funny, I have 5 boys and 3 girls, and you have 5 girls and 3 boys. I live in TX, so pretty far from Canada. I am sorry to hear you have been evacuated. Please take care and I will pray for you and your family.

Yes thank God we are OK thank you for your concern. That is so neat 3-5 and 5-3 you know I also know a lady named Jami that has three sets and two singles at first I thaught you were her and just forgot my nickname. I will contact her and let her know of the newest person in our situation (three twins) I have been searching for a long time and never found anyone with three sets that were still young. I personally know a lady here in kelowna that has three sets and no others but her twins are in their 20-30 so no young ones. I will write again as I am really short on time. Thanks for your letter.

A real family of twins eh lol. We may have three sets but we have really no twins in our family the only ones we know of is my grandma's brother had girl/boy twins but that is because his wife not the real twin thing so we started the whole new thing. My Doctor says I am a throw back in my ancestory ( sorry I don't know if my spelling is correct I am terrible spelling) because there are no others that we know of really. Thanks for your letter.

Hi! I have twin girls that just turned 3. I have no twins that any of my family is aware of on my side of the family and my husband has a set of twins and triplets on his side of the family. I am now 35. We go back and forth on if we want to get pregnant again. My husband is now 43 and even if we did have twins again he would love them but would feel better trying one more time if we thought there will only be one. Any way, I know my doctor says it is "rare" to have two set of twins if no fetility drugs are used. What have you heard? Is it hard taking care of multiple multiples? I know I wouldn't have it any other way with my girls but I also know how eshausting it is at times. I get concerned with trying to take care of preschool twins and the possibility of twin or triplet babies. Any feedback would be appreciated.

First Welcome to the board. Now if you are not taking fertility drugs the general answer is no you are not likely to have twins again. Although if the twins and triplets in your husbands family are identical your chances could be much higher. If they are fraternal and it is his sister and aunt ect that have fraternal twins triplets then they are probably a family that may have what is called hyper-ovulation, which tends to run in familys. You are also on the first door step so to speak of the age of naturally increased ovulation because of the bodys time clock of menopause.
As for you question of raising multiples well it is hard for us we have no family here and our twins are real close in age. Your girls are three now well if you got pregnant soon your girls would be 4 years then so by that age they want to help alot more. It s hard when the kids all get sick like when ours got the chicken pox I was pregnant with the third set and six kids with chicken pox is CRAZY!!!! but we made it. Usual day to day is good, you all learn to adapt so it really is a personal choice. Just really truly be prepared just incase it is another set so no one will be so schocked because it never is impossible just unlikely.
If you want satistics and such let me know I have alot of them I can look up. Needless to say I have done alot of reasearch on twins and I also have known an uncanny amount of twins. I am also taking a course known in Canada as "duely" it is a midwifery/nursing course. It helps because my fertility/twin doctor has been the one there since the fertility workup to delivery of the three sets and he is also a boy/girl twin himself. So he is always finding stats for me we are now like family friends. I really hope this helps if there is anything else let me know I love to help when I can.

Danielle, I'm a twin too!! Twins run rampant through my family tree, so I can't say I was completely shocked. My twin sister just found out she is pg with twins and will be adopting 6 mo. old twins in a few days. So now we'll really have a lot. Welcome to the board!
Cyndi-there was another thread(don't remember which one now) in which you asked if you could ask me something personal I have absolutely no problem with that. Feel free to post it on the board too, as my email is being screwy and I always forget to check it. I'm a pretty open person, so no worries there. Have a good day everyone

Thanks for your openness. I was just wondering what happened to your husband? I pray he didn't pass away? It is none of my business but Iw anted to ask what happened to him because so many guys leave it is so sad. I worrie alot about being single with all the kids. Mainly because I am an only child and my kids would end up in foster care, I have vertualy no family and what I have they are to old. Thanks for your response.

I have a thread on the what's bugging you forum titled may be inappropriate explaining everything. Basically, my husband told me the day after Cade and Coby were born, that he was leaving me. He has been having an affair with a close friend. They also have two children, one of which I threw a baby shower for, because I had no idea it was my husband's child. Now he says he doesn't want our kids, because they don't feel like his, so he wants to give up his rights. Basically, my ex is an a$$!! Feel free to ask away. I'll let you know if I don't feel comfortable answering. Thanks for the concern. Being a single mom to 8 is no peach, but I it is definitely worth it. Seeing smiling faces or sweet faces asleep at night...nothing compares.

I don't know about the whole fertility drug thing. I'm 27 and have 4 kids. Rylan 71/2, Misscarried sep 98, Paige is 4 and we lost her twin while pregnant and Tess and Britney who are 2. I also only have one ovary and one tube and was told that it would be hard for us to have kids lol! So I guess there is a chance of multiple multiples even without drugs. I kind of want to have another, But my husband is sooo scared that we'll have triplets or something. We are only aware of one set of twins on either side of our families. So am I abnormal or just really blessed???

Hello,
I only have one set of twins but, my father is a twin from a family of 8 with 3 sets of twins. So, I was very excited to have inherited the fertility gene. I was the 2nd grandaughter to have twins. My grandmother's grandma had twins and so did one of her sisters. It's very fun to carry on the family tradition!

I only have one set of twins and I am a single mom as well. It was too much for dad to handle. Oh well.....
I have a question, if I were to get pregnant again (not that I plan to, :lol) How big would my chances be to have another set of twins or even tiplets. I conceived them naturally and they are fraternal twins, which means they must be from MY mother's side. My mom never had twins neither did my grand mother, but i know that both of them had one or two abortions, so maybe......
I am amazed to see how many of you have 2 and more set of multiples, so great!!

It's different with every baby! I would feed them and nap them at the same time during the day. If they both still woke up at night, I'd say to make sure you are waking and feeding at the same time at night -- but I'd not wake the other up if he's sleeping through.
One of our main stresses was keeping them on the same schedule but it paid off because we got time to sleep. I'd say that 2 mos, 4 mos, 6 mos, 9 mos, 12 mos and 18 mos. all got easier respectively. 2 mos. really felt to me that I became in a groove with our boys.

Hi to all you great mothers of multiples. I am a grandmother of naturally conceived quads, yes I said Quads!! My daughter already had a little girl when she fell pregnant with her quads. We have 3 surviving, one little boy died at eleven months from complications of prematurity, they were born at 26 and a half weeks, way too early. of the three we have one girl and two boys, they are now five. One boy has cerebral palsy. My son's wife was on I.V.f and has a boy and now boy/girl twins. So we are very blessed. My great grandmother had two sets of twins, this must be where the multiple connection comes from. I just thought I would tell the ladies inquiring about their chances of another multiple birth, my daughter fell pregnant again after her quads, not meaning too !! but she miscarried twins!! I have one unmarried daughter who is pretty worried about her chances of having multiples! very high I think.

Nathalie, I just wanted to let you know how my doctor explained it to me. That having twins could have come from your fathers side..... As I was told the father has nothing to do with his twins being conceived but that he could pass on the genes to his daughter. So you could off had fraternal twins from the genes that your father passed to you! I think this is what happened in my case, because my dads mom is a twin!
I hope this sounds right, I was trying to get it straight in my head first.... LOL

HI,
I'm a 21 yr old mom of twin 2 yr olds, a 1 yr old, and 3 month old triplets. When we all go out people stop me almost every time i turn around. Sometimes I like it, because I love to show off my kids. Then other times people are just in the way.

Hi, i'm Nicole,
I just wanted to know if anybody knew how to figure out if my kids would have twins. To give you some history of my family. My great-grandmother was a twin. She had a set of twins, and 2 singles. One of the twins died at 2. the other is my grandmother. Now my grandmother and her sister had twins. Their brother did not. My grandmother set of twins were stillborn. now both my grandmother and her sister had nine other kids a piece. None of them had twins. They had kids and some of us have twins. There's me, two of my 1st cousins, and three of my 2nd cousins (one of them is my great-uncle's granddaughter). Now out of all these twins they have all been identical twin girls. I'm the only one to have triplets and twin boys (part of the trio) at that.
I have one set and am "cooking" another. I have no clue as to what they are though.
I'm afraid when they come with having two already that are barely one.
I think this is going to be the last.....I hope!
