by Avi and Rachel Vail
Published by Harper Collins Children's Books
Newberry Medalist Avi, who has won awards for several of his 50-some children's books and novels for young adults, teamed up with another children's book author, Rachel Vail, to write an entertaining novel about twins Meg and Edward.
Meg and Edward clearly don't see eye to eye. In fact, they are as different as night and day, polar opposites who constantly rub each other the wrong way.
This is an easy novel for twins in the third grade or for older children. Twin children will identify with the characters and the situations, and will get a big charge out of the competition issues, the insecurity issues and the resolution of the story.
What's best is that the story is so plausible. There is nothing forced or artificial about the dialogue or the thoughts of these two - Meg and Edward are as real as if they were standing alongside you, and every parent of twins and every twin will recognize themselves on pages of this book.
