Do families with multiple birth children get divorced more often?
With the recent announcement that Jon & Kate Gosselin from the popular TLC reality TV show called Jon & Kate Plus 8, are filing for divorce, experts are starting to chime in on the statistics of divorce rates among families with twins and higher order multiples.
If you are a parent of twins/multiples you already know how stressful life can be, let alone the additional stress it can add to a marriage. Fighting over who's turn it is to get up and take care of crying infants in the middle of the night, coupled with the additional costs of raising multiples can put a strain on even the most solid marriages.
I just received an email from M.O.S.T. (Mothers of Super Twins) and they are asking for all of our help regarding this heated subject. They would like for ALL parents of multiples to take a survey on Divorce and the Multiple Birth Family. If you click on this link, it will take you directly to the survey page: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/150373/multiples-and-divorce
Many news organizations have contacted MOST recently asking if they had statistics on the divorce rate among parents of multiples. After looking at the data available in their research and family databases and searching scientific journals for studies on this issue, they were not able to develop or find a quality baseline rate for divorce in multiple birth families.
That is why MOST has created a new survey with the hope that it can provide some insight on this important issue. They are encouraging one parent from all families with multiple birth children (twins, triplets, quadruplets, and more) to complete this short 10-question survey.
They will be publishing statistical data from the responses to their survey on their Supertwins Statistics web page http://www.mostonline.org/facts.htm. TWINS™ Magazine also plans on publishing the survey results in an upcoming issue.
Please take a few moments to take their survey and also send the link to all your friends with multiples!
Sincerely,
Christa D. Reed, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief
